CotW #1: Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Mr. Crowley’

Seeing as it’s just been the 40th anniversary of metal, marked by Black Sabbath’s debut album ‘Black Sabbath’, I though the first Cover of the Week should be dedicated to that. Although it’s not a Black Sabbath song, it is at least by it’s most prominent member, Ozzy Osbourne.

The song comes from Ozzy’s debut solo album, ‘Blizzard of Ozz’. It’s been featured on ‘Brütal Legend’, and has been covered by Cradle of Filth and Moonspell.

The cover featured today can be found here and is by a Brazilian band called StereoChao (although the video was uploaded by a user called RafaelNaine). It’s a full band cover, and is a well performed piece, the guitarist in particular, who manages to pull of the impressive solo. It’s a shame that ratings have been disabled, as I’m sure they would have been favorable towards the band. The cover is affected slightly by audio and video quality, but on this particular cover it doesn’t detract much from the video.

The band has some other covers on the uploader’s profile, although their Mr.Crowley cover is defiantly the best.
